A few minor setbacks of a personal nature but I'm holding up okay. Just little annoying things which will get fixed, mostly due to inattentiveness. Going to do things this week so can't be too up or too down about it.

I DVRd Naked and Afraid last week and watched it yesterday. Not bad, I will do the same tonight. So far, the women are better at surviving than the man. Since this is Discovery, no nudity even in the uncensored version. Everything gets pixelated.

Just learned something : Though pixelated is the standard spelling of the word meaning rendered with visible pixels, there’s a good reason that spell check does not catch pixilated. Pixilated is an old, seldom-used Americanism dating from the middle of the 19th century and peaking (in this use) in the middle 20th century. It meant (1) crazed, bewildered, or whimsical, or (2) intoxicated. Pixilated derives from the noun pixie, denoting the mythical, mischievous creature. One who is pixilated is under the sway of a figurative pixie or behaving in a pixielike manner.

The word’s exact origins are not known, but it might have been a fanciful coinage influenced by other -ated words such as elated and titillated. The phrasal adjective pixie-led (which is listed in the OED, with the earliest example being from 1659) might also be a source.

Getting ready for Golf. Be good to see old friends to hang out, play golf, cards and drink. One of my friends lost his wife last year, she died in her sleep of a Heart Attack. Be interesting to see how he has been doing. I'm just glad to be taking a few days off from work. Ben working real hard lately and I need to just chill.

I have TWC Caller ID which also shows up on the TV screen when someone calls. My wife handled the cell phones for herself and the boys. I dropped her phone and changed the billing to my name. However, when they call me, her name shows up as the caller. A bit disconcerting, a sort of Twilight Zone moment. Same thing at work, a woman I work with has the same first name, and sometimes I'm told " *****is on the phone and wants to talk to you." You know who it is but a part of your unconscious mind is reacting differently.

Went to the Greenmarket at night fest last night. Greenmarket Wheat was $7 a glass. It was excellent. Picked up a bottle for $10. Food was good but too damn hot to be outdoors. Had two beers, sandwich and dessert and headed home.

Been extremely busy at work. Even took some home and worked on the weekend. Keeps my mind busy and off things. I'm not watching TV or movies and I'm not reading as much. Last night,  I cooked and then was thinking how to make visuals on what I am working on.

Every Summer my job gets Interns. I try to limit it it two but this year I was given three. So far , so good. They are bright and energetic. I have them doing some interesting stuff. Will take them out for a Restaurant Week Lunch. They are unpaid, only get a Pizza every week but it looks great on their Resumes.

Concert was great,went with my sister-in-law, a big Blues fan. White hair, towel, he's 87, and still puts on a great show. At one point went from You Are My Sunshine to Rock Me Baby. Ended with a solo guitar of When the Saints Go Marchin In. An American treasure. The opener was the James Hunter Six who were pretty good.

 

Found an open table and chairs, Beer on sale but $6.53 a bottle, ouch ! Had six anyway, hot but a nice off-shore breeze.

 

Between acts a marching Band did Jazz.

 

 Free, and a nice set-up. Once the sun went down it was a really pleasant evening.

Busy week, tonight is a free BB King concert at the World Financial Center. Looks like it will rain, but I'll take a chance. I will meet my sister-in-law, a huge Blues fan.

Time has been flying by. I can't believe it has been over seven months since she died. I can't say I have settled in and am in a groove but the day to day things keep you busy and I have tried to keep things moving forward. My two boys seem to have their lives together, you can't tell with boys though because they keep things bottled up. They are busy with work, school and sports, not a bad thing.

I've reached a new point. I am alone but not lonely. I am moving on but realize that my whole other life is just that, gone but not forgotten. Am keeping busy and doing things. Back to original mantra: Keep Busy, stay groomed and keep up routines.

Did the Laundry last night. Too hot for this morning and I had over $8 on a card. This was one of those places where you have to load money on a card and that is what starts the machine. Went last night about 11 p.m. and was out of there before 12:30. Also, Mattress delivery today , as well as a new Box Spring for myself. Will be good to start sleeping up high again.

Bought a new Mattress for the oldest son, a Beautyrest. A little more than I wanted to spend but it was needed since the old one was too small and the springs were pushing through. The mattress was over 25 years old.
