My life right now wraps around my work. I'm grateful for a challenging, interesting job but my time is nearing the end. What will I do if I don't do this ? Exciting to think about, scary to implement.Will keep on slogging away until I figure this one out. Some friends will launch before I do. I will see what happens to them. Two guys I saw recently were very happy with their decision.

I watch an insane amount of Sports. I don't care for much of what is on TV and the good stuff people tell me about, I just didn't have the time. Now with the Yankees out of the Playoffs and The Giants falling apart, I just have to wait for the NBA and read a lot until then.

I left my Blackberry in the charger at home and realized halfway on the way to work that I didn't have my phone. Usually, I go back but yesterday I spent the day without a phone. It was liberating. I occasionally reached for it to check the time, and saw how ingrained it becomes to your habits.I receive so much internal E-Mail and news articles, so you reach and read so much that you don't even realize the "time sink" it is. See 40 across in today's NYT Crossword.

Yin and Yang today. Retirement luncheon for a friend and then a young people's gathering at night. Guess I'll do some things in between but maybe not. Hope to have some good brews at the evening function.

I get reviewed at work every five weeks, executives go over what my staff has done and what is coming up. A useful exercise, keeps you on your toes and lets you look at things you may have put on a back-burner. Forget yearly evaluations, I get evaluated every five weeks.

Looks to be a busy week ahead, been working a lot. Don't mind, keeps the mind active. Working at home at times has benefits. A glass of wine or bottle of beer to go with the work.

Being a Father and now doing what I can in the Mother role is tough. It is working but little setbacks occur and bother me. My wife used to push the kids to do better, I don't do enough of that. I think of these things as it was my father's birthday this week. He would have been 101.

Money situation so far is good, I have been asked for help by extended family and I'm glad to give it. Hope I'm not seen as an alternate ATM,  my generosity won't last forever.

My job just installed new computers. Windows 7. Funny, with my home desktop and laptop with Windows 8, my home system is more advanced. Been bringing my own laptop to work lately.

Paraskevidekatriaphobia anyone ? The sources of the superstition are boundless. Many associate 13 at a dinner table as bad luck. I'll go with : "the Bible tells us there were exactly 13 present at the Last Supper. One of the dinner guests — er, disciples — betrayed Jesus Christ, setting the stage for the Crucifixion" (Friday.)

I have stuff hanging on my wall at work, diplomas, pictures , and plaques. Office got a paint job and new carpet and I had to put everything in a large box. Now, I will try new hanging mechanisms. I used to use nails and push pins. Didn't help the walls very much. Michael's and Home Depot have the hooks, not cheap.

Leo's Latticini ,AKA Mama's,  is a Queens Deli which is famous for their sandwiches and Mozzarella. My wife helped them out when she worked in a local Jewelry Department. I hadn't been there in a while and of course they asked about her in the normal course. I bought my Manicotti and tears welled-up, they were so nice about about it and told me how great she was to them.

My wife used to have this hanging on a wall at her work site a million years ago. We met at work, were put together and then developed a relationship. I left that job but we got married about a year after that.

It has been nine months since she died. I am living the same, enjoying the little pleasures I used to share with her. Not changing very much: work, cooking, sitting around watching TV, laundry and reading. For the Summer I did my Golf trip, Restaurant Week and Tanger Outlet visit.

I have the time , money and freedom to do anything. I can really go anywhere. But, I don't have it in me at this time. Work has been a bit of a blessing, complicated stuff to figure out and make simple. Kept me busy and came out good.
